A few words about Ouga (and his sister Rinouka)
These two are a storybook on their own. We saw a beautiful male before the Grand National Show in Japan in 2018, and I was immediately in love with him. His owner could not speak any English, but he perfectly understood my gestures and admiration for this male and laughed with pride. The day after, he became Best Male Shikoku, exactly as I had predicted when other judges and breeders from Japan asked for my opinion. He was of extreme quality.
Through a mutual friend and Shikoku breeder, I tried to find this male and a suitable female for a mating. It took quite some effort, as we did not know which breeder group this man belonged to. When my friend finally found him and asked for a mating, he said no. After hearing this disappointing news, I said, “Try again and say it’s for me.” Surprisingly, he said yes, but with one condition: the puppies would be owned by me, and no one in Japan. We had no choice but to accept, and so it happened that on December 5th, 2019, a boy and a girl were born. We were thrilled with this amazing news.
In early 2020, they flew to us, and we can proudly say that we are very happy with their offspring. Ouga, in combination with Yoba, gave us our top-winning female Jiji-Yoba v.d Egmato (Finnish & Hungarian Champion, World Champion 2023, European Champion 2023/2024). She is a true showgirl who always performs at the highest level.
Rinouka, in combination with our top male Miyuki, gave us the next generation in our male Back To Tai v.d Egmato. He has already won many titles at a young age, as you can see on his profile.
Ouga and Rinouka were never shown themselves. Who knows what the future will bring. For now, they are honoured by us every day for their contribution to the Shikoku breed—and, of course, loved by us for being such happy and affectionate Shikokus.
